It was a very proud and successful November 11th Remembrance Day for Merrickville-Wolford. Thankyou to the colour party (Norm/Jacques/Mike/Ron) and everyone who attended and/or purchased a wreath to be laid at the cenotaphe. A special thanks go out to Mary/Pauline/Pat and those preparing and contributing to the ‘Pot Luck’ lunch which was very well attended. 

Thank You to Merrick Preparatory School for handing out programs, Mr. Bennetts classes Grade 5 & 6 from Merrickville Public School, students from École catholique Sainte-Marguerite-Bourgeoys1st Merrickville Beavers and Cubs and Leaders who also delivered thank you cards for Remembrance Day, Military Personnel that came in uniform, Merrickville Fire DepartmentHoly Trinity Choir singing. We are a small community, but we certainly have big hearts. Special thank you to Gail Garland for her help, she placed poppy stickers on Veteran Headstones in the three cemeteries – St Anne, Union and Wolford, she sat for three days at Larkspur Lane with a Poppy Box and two days at the Community Centre at a craft fair with a Poppy Box, she helped with getting the wreaths ready, helped with counting Poppy Boxes along with Mary and Lee. Thankyou to the 450 Tactical Helicopter Squadron from Petawawa who, at exactly 11:37 am, did a Flyby.

The Legion will be hopefully initiating the Veterans Memorial Banner Project for next year in the Municipality. We will have more details soon but if you know a past Veteran or person that you would like to honour then please start to gather information and a picture of them. The cost for a Banner will be $275.00 that is purchased through the Legion.
